Fruity Pebbles Treats

Fruity Pebbles Treats are a colorful and delicious variation to the traditional Rice Krispie Treats! These no-bake cereal bars are quick and easy to make!

I love me some homemade Rice Krispies Treats, so I’ve been wanting to try Fruity Pebbles Treats for the longest time! Finally, Veronica took charge and mixed up some of these marshmallow and cereal treats using the Fruity Pebbles cereal that we always have in the pantry.

Fruity Pebbles Treats are a colorful and extra sweet alternative to your traditional Rice Krispies Treats. I think the bright rainbow dessert is the perfect sweet option for spring or summer! Best of all, it’s easy enough that this recipe could be the perfect summer cooking activity for tweens.

The recipe is EASY! And if you’ve seen my other Rice Krispies Treat recipes, you know that I like to use extra butter, to make the bars extra soft and chewy!

You’ll also notice that unlike traditional Rice Krispies Treats, this recipe for Fruity Pebbles Treats calls for lime (or lemon) juice. Since we’re using a sweet cereal, the juice helps to cut out some of that sweetness and balance the flavor.

Prep Time 15 minutes
Total Time 15 minutes

Ingredients

  • 6 Tablespoons salted butter
  • 1 (10 ounce) bag miniature marshmallows
  • 1 ½ teaspoons fresh lime juice
  • ½ teaspoon finely ground sea salt
  • 6 cups Fruity Pebbles cereal

Instructions

  1. Generously butter a 13x9 inch baking dish and set aside.
  2. Melt the butter in a large pot over low heat.
  3. Once the butter is melted add the mini marshmallows. Stir frequently until marshmallows are melted and smooth.
  4. Stir in the lime juice and sea salt.
  5. Remove from heat and stir in the cereal until well combined.
  6. Gently press into prepared pan and allow to set for 30 minutes before cutting into squares.

Notes

Don’t rush melting the marshmallows! These are quick treats and you may want to rush through the melting process to make it even faster. I do not recommend doing this though as it will melt your marshmallows too quickly, heat them too much, and your treats will turn out hard and tough. Low and slow is the way to go!

Gently press the bars into your pan to avoid crushing the cereal and making the bars too dense and tough to chew.
