Our Summer Fun Schedule

This summer has gotten off to a bit of a rough start. We moved into our house on the last day of school, and have basically been unpacking since then. The girls are likely bored out of their minds, and thus not on their best behavior.

Since the unpacking is close to being complete, I figured we could finally start heading out on little summer adventures. In fact, we just got home from a trip to the water park. These trips never go as smoothly as planned, but I guess all we can do is keep trying.

Over the last few weeks, I’ve been thinking up a schedule that we could follow for summer activities. I think most parents can agree that everything runs more smoothly when there is a routine.

I’m still working on establishing a better daily routine, but for now, take a look at our weekly summer schedule.

Summer schedule with fun ideas to fill the week during summer break!

Make it Monday

Monday’s will be our crafting days! I already have the girls signed up for a few classes at Michael’s. For weeks where the girls don’t go to Michael’s, we’ll do something at home. I’m really looking forward to making the slime recipe that uses contact solution.

Take a trip Tuesday

Ok, so I haven’t really thought this one out yet. Right now on the list, we have a trip to the zoo. I’ll have to research what else is in the area that we can take day trips to.

Water fun Wednesday

Today’s trip to the water park was the first of our Wednesday activities. There are a few more water/splash pads in the area for us to check out, as well as a nature preserve with springs.

When we don’t feel like leaving the house, we can do outdoor activities like water balloons or bubbles. There are also a ton of ideas on Pinterest for things like obstacle courses and activities with sponges.

Thoughtful Thursday

Thursdays will be the perfect opportunity to do something nice for someone else in the community. Simple things like baking for neighbors (we have the most adorable older couples around us) or even dropping off treats at the fire or police station.

Foodie Friday

For the last day of the week, we’ll be practicing our cooking and baking skills. Typically, Friday nights are our family nights, where we eat pizza and watch a movie. During the day on Friday we’ll be able to either prep the pizza dough or make a dessert for the evening.

Once all of our stuff is put away, I want to get a huge chalk board for our kitchen, where I’ll be able to make a visual schedule that the younger two will understand. Hopefully once the girls know what to expect, our days will go much more smoothly!
