Our Indoor Fun Favorites
School’s out for summer..! Seriously. Well, maybe not out, out. But earlier this week, the governor of Kansas officially shut down schools for the remainder of the school year. Learning will continue virtually, eventually.
While we wait for the district and school to figure out what the next course of action will be, we’re hanging tight and getting our kicks from indoor activities. My favorite activities have been the creative ones, that produce art that we can display on our front window. Along with art, below are a few of our other favorites for fun inside.
A variety of our family's favorite games and activities for staying occupied and having fun inside! We had NO clue their were so many ways to build and play with our Brain Flakes set! I guess that's what you get for not reading the directions, huh?! We've had all sorts of competitions with each other to see who could build the best or most impressive items, Marble runs have been a favorite for everyone for quite some time now! I finally ordered an additional set this week, so that we can create even larger tracks for our marbles to run! The nice thing about this version of Trivial Pursuit is that the entire family can participate! Game nights can get pretty competitive! Even though it's meant for the kids, I find myself racing against the clock and trying to run the best darn pizza shop out there, This game is excellent for teaching money and math skills! It requires the basic OSMO base for iPad, which is also available on Amazon, A super simple project for children of all ages to add some holiday flair to windows! Households across the globe have been decorating their front windows to create art displays for the neighbors that may be passing by. We have sun catchers up in out street-facing windows, and will be adding more over the next few weeks. If it's started to warm up where you live, consider growing caterpillars into butterflies! We had so much fun watching out butterflies grow last year, and plan to do it again as soon as possible. There are so many creative ways to build with magnetic blocks. We love this set because it includes fun little extras like the ferris wheel base and a set of numbers and letters. It also pairs well with the set we previously had, for more fun with extra pieces! This art kit comes complete with more than enough paints to create the most beautiful hanging window arts. Veronica has a collection that she made over Christmas break hanging all along her bedroom window. This one is all Veronica. She LOVES playing it at a neighbor's house, so our own version is on its way! This is an incredibly affordable set of colorful magnet tiles! As with the other magnet set, the girls love to build houses, castles, and even cribs for their stuffed animals using these tiles. I know, hair color is kinda of out there.. Stay with me. We usually reserve hair dying for the summer, as a reward if the girls did well in school. School is technically out for right now, and because pool water always washes it right out, the girls can enjoy their funky colors for a while before our pools open! At this point, I believe we own all of the Melissa & Doug stained glass projects. We just love doing them SO much! They're a fairly easy craft with NO MESS! I like to think it helps with number recognition for the little ones as well!Indoor Fun Favorites
