Hello lovelies! Today I wanted to share two super simple Valentine’s Day crafts that I made using the same heart shape from Cricut Design Space.

The first of these projects is a stained glass sun catcher perfect for the kiddos to make! I love having the girls make these seasonal and holiday inspired sun catchers to help get the house looking festive. They’re easy enough for our 4 year old to make, but also a project that my 7 and 8 year olds enjoy doing as well.

To make the project easier for little hands, consider cutting the tissue paper pieces into larger sized squares. Larger squares will also help the project go quicker for the littles who might get bored easily.

For those who are Cricut users, this is the exact heart outline that I used: Valentine Stained Glass

A super simple project for children of all ages to add some holiday flair to windows!

Instructions

  1. Using Cricut Design Space, create an outline of a heart sized at a max of 11.5 inches. This is the heart I used! Place cardstock on Cricut cutting mat and load into Cricut machine and cut.
  2. Using the rotary cutter and self healing mat, cut a variety of colors of tissue paper into 1 inch squares.
  3. Use the heart outline to determine the size of Contact Paper needed. The contact paper should cover the entire heart.
  4. Cut out Contact Paper, peel the backing, and place the heart cutout on the sticky side of the contact paper.
  5. Stick the tissue paper squares to the Contact Paper on the inside of the heart cutout.
  6. Stick a second sheet of Contact Paper to the exposed tissue paper, sandwiching it between the Contact Paper. Cut out any excess Contact Paper from the exterior of the heart outline.

For an alternate project, I used the same heart outline from the sun catcher, and shrunk it down to about 1 inch tall. I made about 15 of those 1 inch hearts in Cricut gold foil vinyl and just stuck them all over.

Red mug with gold foil hearts

Don’t have a Cricut? Go old school and cut out the heart for the sun catcher with scissors by folding a sheet of red paper in half. For the mug project, try punching the foil out with a heart-shaped paper punch.
