The Weekend

Does anyone else ever look around and wonder how the heck you became a grown up? And where the heck all these kids came from? And who on Earth thought it would be a good idea to leave you in charge of them?

That may have been me this weekend.

John was gone for a conference, so it was just the girls and I. No real adults around to answer the door for strangers or judge me for not washing the dishes.

It’s been a while since John has abandoned us, so this time around my goal was simply to survive. I was quickly reminded that there is no way I could survive another deployment.

The last time John deployed, Veronica was 1.5 and Adri was only a few weeks old. Back then they napped and listened. Now, neither of those happen regularly.

I tried to fill up our weekend with fun, but of course, that never goes as planned. For us, there’s almost always a melt down and some fighting. But hey, at least I can say I tried!

Veronica was cheering for a football game Saturday morning, but as soon as that was done, we hit the drive thru for lunch (Happy Meals for happy people!) and continued on to Michael’s. They had a slime activity that I thought the girls would enjoy. Plus, they had 20% off of your entire purchase that I HAD to use!

Right next to Michael’s there is a BB&B. I’ve been wanting to try a Simply Fit Board that I saw on Shark Tank, and I knew Bed Bath & Beyond would have it and I’d be able to use one of their 20% off coupons. For the next month, the plan is to use it to do one of their 10 minute workouts daily.

Between those two stops and a quick trip into Home Depot, we managed to kill 3 hours. On the way home, I knew the girls would get a kick out of going through a car wash, so that’s what we did. Touch-free for my new shiny baby! LOL

I was burnt out, so for the rest of the afternoon, we kept things low key. Some princess pudding cups and TV kept everyone happy!

That night we watched some movies with popcorn. All of us love to watch the corn pop on the stove. We still have a ton left from the candles I used to decorate, which we were able to make quite a few batches of popcorn with.

Sunday was a crafty day! The girls have red ribbon week this week, so we made a couple of shirts for the week. First on the list was tie die, so that it could sit all day. Each girl helped me design a super hero shirt that they wore to school today. While I had the Cricut out, I made a handful of ornaments for Christmas. I just LOVE how they turned out.

I also managed to finish painted a wooden sign that I started ages ago! I’m the worst at painting things, because of the wait associated with drying. I’m thinking that these will make perfect Christmas gifts this year!

Thankfully, John will be home tonight and life will be back to normal come tomorrow. Although, not gonna lie. This week is going to be a busy one for him. I was really hoping that Army life would slow down after command. That’s definitely not the case here!

Good night y’all!
