What I’m Looking Forward to at Ft Knox

When I sat down to create my editorial calendar at the beginning of this year, I was so sure that we’d be heading back to Fort Leonard Wood, that I tentatively slotted today for a post about heading back to the area. I was going to touch on the positive aspects of heading back to a base I detested.

The area around FLW has grown ever so slightly since we left. There is a Panera. The Goodwill in the area gets brand new items from Target- tags still attached! Target and Hobby Lobby are kinda sorta within driving distance.

But, if you’ve been following along, you know that we’re not heading back to Fort Leonard Wood. Turns out we’ll be PCSing to Fort Knox, Kentucky in just over a month.

While I wasn’t originally too thrilled with where the Army was taking us, I’ve absolutely warmed up to the idea. So far, I haven’t heard a single negative thing about the area, which is a plus, right?! We’ve gotten an idea of what John’s schedule is going to look like and I can’t say I’m upset. Even on his busy days, he’ll be getting home earlier than he ever did during command.

I’ve made sure to Google all of the super important necessities. You know: Panera, Target, and Hobby Lobby. They’re ALL there! And a Michael’s. And Jo-Ann’s. After 4 and a half years of not having a decent craft store, these were priorities in my search.

If all goes as planned, we’ll be living right around 45 minutes from Louisville and all the delicious looking eateries I’ve found on Yelp. Lexington will be about 2 hours away, but there looks like there is plenty to do there also.

So, what else am I looking forward to? A house full of Ikea furniture. The terrible-for-you breakfasts at Cracker Barrel. Dunkin Donuts, and the delicious vanilla cupcake lattes I just saw a commercial for. Amazon Prime orders arriving in 2 days! Free shipping. And maybe, kinda, sorta, looking forward to my first fall and winter, along with the fashion that goes along with them!

I’ve already received some great suggestions from friend’s for must-dos in the Ft Knox area. I’m looking forward to exploring and crafting! 😉
