Easter Egg Tissue Paper Stained Glass Craft

Easter egg tissue paper stained glass is the perfect craft for all ages! The egg design makes it a perfect window decoration around Easter!

Ok, I know I’ve posted a lot of these tissue paper stained glass/sun catcher crafts lately. They’re truly a favorite for spring time once the sun starts shining through the windows again though!

Like many across the the country and world, we’ll be celebrating Easter this weekend. Because we have Easter coming up, the theme for this week’s window art gallery is eggs! Plus, word on the street is that the Easter bunny will be coming around through the neighborhoods tomorrow, and he’ll be on the look out for eggs. So, we made a couple of tissue paper stained glass crafts to hang up in the windows.

Two years ago, we made a very simple egg sun catcher that didn’t require a Cricut. This year, to fancy things up a bit (and because we have all the time in the world) I made us some fancy eggs to decorate. To make your own Easter egg tissue paper stained glass crafts, all you need is:

  • a Cricut
  • black cardstock
  • clear shelve liner
  • tissue paper in a variety of colors

My collection of tissue paper has grown significantly over the years, so there is always a variety of colors to choose from. Anywhere from 3 colors up works great, and you really don’t need more than a quarter of a sheet in each color. I always advise to cut out larger squares of tissue paper for smaller fingers, as it helps the project go by quicker for them.

Design space has a variety of Easter egg designs, but you can find the exact eggs we use HERE on my Cricut Design Space canvas

Instructions

  1. Use Cricut Design Space to create an outline of an Easter Egg with a max size 11.5 inches. Design Space canvas! Place cardstock on Cricut cutting mat and load into Cricut machine to cut.
  2. Using scissors, cut a variety of colors of tissue paper into squares roughly 1-2 inches.
  3. Use the outline of the cut out Easter egg to measure out the amount of clear shelf liner necessary.
  4. Cut out clear shelf line, peel the backing, and place the Easter egg cut out on the sticky side of the contact paper.
  5. Stick the tissue paper squares to the clear shelf line on the inside of the heart cutout. It's ok for pieces to overlap or go over the card stock!
  6. Cut away any excess shelf liner from the exterior of the Easter egg outline. If desired, punch a small hole in the top, to thread through a string for hanging.
