Happy hump day! I don’t think I’ve ever been as thankful for a week to be half over!
Daylight savings time hit me like a ton of bricks! Yesterday, as I was getting ready for the day (at nearly 10am), I realized that this was my first “spring forward” in quite a few years! Shout out to Hawaii for not doing DST!
The girls had a snow day on Monday, so as soon as my alarm went off, I basically shut it off and rolled back over. It was the perfect opportunity to not ease into the time change. It was also the perfect opportunity to get a little crafty! I’ve been wanting to make some stained glass sun catchers for a little while, but crafting has been the last thing on my mind lately.
I don’t know about other parents, but I’m totally a last-minute birthday-party-gift-shopper. Like we head to Walmart on the way to the party. While we’re at Walmart, we typically pick up the gift, a gift bag, and tissue paper. This habit drives John up the wall, because I always come home with a ton of extra tissue paper. You should see my collection!
Yes, I could bring my own tissue paper, but I don’t wanna! Plus, I prefer that the paper matches with the bag, and you never know which bag you’re going to end up with until you’re there.
Long story short: I have WAYYY too much tissue paper! These little sun catchers are the perfect opportunity to use up a few sheets!
I want to get better at sending art to the grandparents, and I have a friend who has been going through some tough times, so I’m hoping these brighten their spirits. We ran out of Contact paper, or else I’m sure the girls would have spent the entire day making these!
Unlike the clover sun catchers that we made a few years ago, I decided not to do a cardstock border. I just let the girls fill an entire sheet of the Contact paper with tissue paper, then I put another sheet of Contact paper on as a backing, and cut out the egg shape using a paper template. I think I actually like how it turned out without the border!
I need to stock up on Contact paper, as I have a feeling we’ll be making versions of these for all the upcoming holidays!
