5 on Friday
Hey y’all! As we head into the holiday season, blogging has been the last thing on my mind lately. We’ve been busy, busy, busy! Plus, our wifi has been SO spotty, that it’s nearly impossible to get a post done from start to finish without interruption.
I wanted to pop in today, to at least have ONE post go live this week. A 5 on Friday seems like the perfect option!
1. Halloween was a HUGE success! I know I say it ALL the time, but I really love our neighborhood! We got so lucky as far as people and location! We headed out with our little group of friends on Halloween night, and employed the parenting tactic that we’ve used since we moved here: group parenting. Armed with grown-up onesies and alcohol, we attempted to wrangle our gigantic group of children through the neighborhood.
I thought our little section on neighbors was awesome, but another little area put us to shame! They were out with an array of crockpots, tables full of liquor, and luminaries lining their entire courtyard. As we walked around the entire community, there was no shortage of treats for kids or adults. And here I was thinking I was awesome for making the jello shots!
2. Speaking of awesome, let’s talk about two awesome deals I scored this morning! The first being 50% off at Old Navy. I’ve been slowly building up my winter wardrobe, and Old Navy is my store of choice. They’re having their friends & family sale this weekend, but as a cardholder, I got to shop today! Yay!
Then, on my way home from shopping, I stopped by Starbucks and got my FREE reusable red cup. The cups are free today, when you purchase a holiday drink, and will get you 50¢ off of holiday drinks after 2pm for the next two months!
And I guess a third deal that I recently scored… I ordered two dresses for our upcoming military balls from Amazon. I spent less than $60 total for both and I can’t wait to get them! We have the Marine Corps ball next weekend and we should find out today if we were chosen in the lottery for the holiday ball next month! If we end up going to the holiday ball, I’ll save one of the dresses for that. Otherwise, I’ll see which dress I like best for the Marine Corps ball and return the other one.
3. I’ll already be putting the cup to use on a coffee refill before our little road trip this evening! We’re headed up (down?) to West Point this weekend to meet up with some friends and check out the football game vs. Air Force. It looks like we’re in for some wet, cold weather, but it should be fun! A friend that’s already on her way to New York sent me a message letting me know that the leaves are looking amazing along the drive! I can’t wait to see!
Just like living in Kentucky was perfect due to it’s central location, Newport is perfectly central for exploring all things New England!
4. The leaves here have been good, but I don’t think I’ll ever understand the love of four seasons. We get like 2 weeks of pretty leaves and then the trees end up all dead and naked. I’ll gladly deal with 12 months of summer. Especially in instances like this year in Newport, where we basically went from summer to winter without nice, mild fall weather.
5. Annnd finally… Since we sort of seemed to skip fall, I am SO ready for Christmas! Aside from a few pumpkins, I hardly decorated for Halloween. Usually, we wait until after Thanksgiving to bust the Christmas decor out, but I’m ready like NOW.
Scentsy’s November scent of the month has my house smelling like pine and holly and has me in a super jolly mood! I’ll been sending out wax samples before we hit the road today and all throughout the month, so if you’d like to get a smell of the wax, send me a message with your address!
