24 Hours in Indiana

Alternately titled 1.5 hours at Notre Dame.

One of the best things about being at Fort Knox, is it’s super central location. We’ve had an easy time hopping in the car and going down to Tennessee to visit a friend. Just last weekend we were in Illinois, and this past weekend was spend in Indiana.

Saturday morning the crew all hoped into the new car and hit the road! We were headed to a small town in northern Indiana. It may be a suburb of Chicago. There verdict is still out on that one.

John’s First Sergent from his time in command was having his retirement party, and with us only being 4 hours away, it was a no-brainer to go! John attended the party alone, as it was a fancy-schmancy event, but the girls and I showed up at the end to say hello.

While on our own, the 4 amigas stopped at Panera for dinner. I almost opted for the drive thru, as it was raining cats and dogs, but the sky cleared up long enough for us to make a mad dash inside. And I’m pretty glad we did. Everyone sat contently and ate their entire meals. Maybe because going to the pool was dependent on finishing dinner, but really, who knows?

Back at the hotel, the girls swam for a bit before switching into jammies and relaxing.

The next morning we were up and out early for breakfast. We were only about an hour away from the University of Notre Dame (John’s team), and it only made sense to go visit while we were so close.

The campus was SO gorgeous, that I took about a gazillion photos. And well, here they are!
