Left Hanging
Whoops! I left y’all hanging again!
I’m so bad at keeping up with blogging during the summer. We get so busy doing all the fun activities during the day, and then by the evening, blogging is the last thing on my mind!
It doesn’t help that my parents are here visiting. We’ve been hanging out and getting stuff done around the house. My mom has kept me busy with getting everything put up and away.
We did pretty well unpacking from the move, but all of the shelves and picture frames have basically sat around completely ignored for the last month. That all changed this weekend. Mama had me following her around the entire house getting everything hung.
Diplomas, sorority composites, volunteer awards, even my entire gallery wall are all up now! I’m loving how the gallery wall is coming along, and even more excited about the new frames that I ordered for it!
Back in Hawaii I added Georgia and Missouri shaped frames from Pinecone Home to my wall. At the time, they didn’t have a Hawaii state picture frame, but now they do! So I have Hawaii and Kentucky on the way! It’s sort of like my own little version of home is where the Army sends us. Although, eventually, I do plan to make myself or buy the actual signs.
Along with getting pictures hung, we hung up some shelvesl! Both decorative and functional! And I can’t tell you which one I’m most excited about!
While shopping for pantry shelves at a home improvement store (we bounced from Home Depot to Lowe’s multiple times in the same day), we found these really pretty and easy to hang floating shelves. With some cheap decor from Michael’s I got the powder room beautified.
I’m almost thinking I need to go grab some more shelves to add around my tub in the master bath. Plus, I want to try my hand at thrifting some decor!
Then, by adding three additional wire shelves to the pantry, we got like 50% more storage space! I’m seriously loving how easy it is to get in and out of the pantry without all the clutter now! The update has made such a HUGE difference! I wish I was better about taking before pictures!
One more hanging piece that I’m super excited about is the giant chalk board hanging up in the kitchen. We had this big open empty wall that is now filled with so much character! I’ll be back with a post about it eventually, because it was such a great find and an easy starter project!
John cleaned out the garage over the weekend and got his miter saw set up, so I foresee lots of beautiful wood projects in our future! I can’t wait! I keep saying that we’ll have plenty of time in Kentucky to master woodworking, since there isn’t a whole lot for us to do here! – Although, I have been paying attention to the news and social media more for suggestions for activities to do around town. We went to a celebration with fireworks last week, but that’s a post for another day..
