Being that this is our second time being homeowners, I thought I knew exactly what I was getting into. I never would have imagined we’d already be putting in so much work and doing so many projects around our new home. Clearly, I forget that this isn’t exactly a new home.

When we bought our home in Georgia, we were there from day 1 of construction. We were able to close and move in as soon as construction was complete. Our biggest projects were putting up a tile back splash in the kitchen and sod down in the back yard.

In the month that we’ve been in our Kentucky home, I’ve already lost count of the work we’ve done. Needless to say, when you have an 11 year old house, there are going to be plenty of projects that pop up.

Last week, as I was showing a friend our basement, I noticed a wet spot on the basement floor. We don’t go down to the basement frequently, but I know I hadn’t seen the spot before. At first it appeared as though a pipe was leaking, but once John took a closer look, he realized that wasn’t the case.

If you stumbled across my Instagram stories this weekend, you may have caught a glimpse of my darling husband replacing a toilet in our powder room. We’re not sure if the wax ring at the base of the toilet was causing the leak, or if it was related to a crack in the back of the toilet itself. Either way, water was leaking down through the floor from the bathroom. We had a cheap looking round toilet, so I wasn’t too upset about having to make the change.

Not gonna lie, I was totally intimidated and disgusted by the project, but it ended up being not so bad. You know, since all I did was watch from the hall. In all seriousness though, even John said replacing the toilet was surprisingly easy. The home improvement store wanted to charge $150 for installation, but we he knocked it out in about an hour. The hardest part was getting the new toilet out of our car. Those things are heavy!

Fellow homeowners, YouTube is your friend. Seriously! We’ve learned how to remove a stuck light bulb, install a microwave, stretch a carpet. You name it, it’s probably on YouTube.

Up next, the yard! I think we’ve done enough around the interior of the house. We need to get our lawn in order before the neighbors start to hate us!
