I Need to Get Out More
Sadly, whale watching was once again a bust this weekend. We made it all the way on to the ship only to be told that the seas were too rough and we’d have to reschedule. The plus side though, we got a free breakfast out of it. We’ll try again in a few weeks and hopefully there will be plenty of whales out for our viewing pleasure.
Although the weather put a slight damper on our weekend plans, we actually did a lot more than anticipated. We spent a little bit of time in Haleiwa having lunch at Cafe Haleiwa (it was delicious!) and checking out little wine shop. They do tastings, which I plan on returning there for.
While the rest of the country was dealing with snow, we also had a chance to spend some time at the beach with some friends who were camping. Usually I’m a chicken when it comes to cold water, but even in February, this water was warm enough for me. Sorry guys!
The girls had a blast not only hanging out at the beach, but then at the camp site where we had some camp fire nachos. They thought it was the coolest thing that we were “camping.” Maybe one day.. Maybe.
Later that evening, we also met up with some friends from a previous duty station who moved here recently. They have older girls, so we were able to let them deal with Veronica and Adri while we chatted. Awesome parenting, I know.
Even though it seemed like we were going nonstop for a few days, which usually stresses me out, I was happy to be out of the house and hanging out with so many people. I tend to enjoy sticking around the house, but this weekend served as a reminder that I should really get out more.
