Goals for 2015

As we roll into 2015, I figured now would be an appropriate time to share my goals. Better late than never, right? I really never got around to choosing a word for the year. I honestly couldn’t decide on one word that encompassed all that I wanted to accomplish this year. Instead, I’ve set some goals for myself.

Personal Goals

+ Be more organized: Late last year, I started a life management binder for myself. Inside I have: my schedule, reminders, meal plans, homeschool-ish plans, and other important day to day documents. During Christmas, the book got put away, but this morning it’s back! The one thing it’s missing is a cleaning schedule. I have yet to be able to come up with a good schedule to keep the house tidy. I started with laundry today and the dishwasher is currently running, so that’s a start!

+ Take more pictures: I signed up for Groovebook over the holiday (use code: “fernandez4907” to get yourself a free book). My goal is to fill the book each month. Who knew it would be so difficult to take 100 different pictures. I mean sure, I take tons of photos daily, but a good chunk of those are all of the same thing. I’d also like to use my DSLR more often. I hardly take it out with me, because it’s so big and inconvenient to haul around. Ideally, I’ll be taking it everywhere with me and hopefully reaching for it instead of reaching for my phone.

+ Be more giving: While we were in Georgia, I volunteered often. I was extremely involved in John’s unit’s FRG (family readiness group) and thoroughly enjoyed helping other families. Here, we don’t really have that same FRG involvement. I’m hoping to start something up once John takes command. I’m also looking forward to joining Jo’s Project Paper Hearts. It’s hard to go out and actually volunteer with all of my little ones. By joining little events like Jo’s I can help others, and even get the girls involved, from our home.

Blog Goals

+ Share more recipes: I got a cast iron skillet, ice cream maker and a beer brewing set for Christmas. There will be TONS of experimenting happening in my kitchen, and I can’t wait! I love sharing recipes anyway, so now I’ll have more to share. Plus, half of the reason I switched to WordPress anyway was to be able to use recipe plugins.

+ Improve my photography: To go along with the recipes, I’d also like to improve the photos that I share on the blog. I took photography in school, and think I have a pretty decent grasp on photographing people. It’d be nice to be able to get great photos of items such as crafts and food to be able to share.

+ Grow the blog: I’m hoping that with the combination of recipes and great photography, I can expand this little page of mine. I recently even started a newsletter to hopefully help me reach even more readers. I’d love it if you subscribed!

+ Make more blogger friends: I’ve made so many great friends through blogging. Luckily, many of you are still blogging. Some of my blog BFFs have given up blogging though, so my list of blogs to read has dwindled significantly. I’d love to make more connections this year and find some new bloggy friends.
