Why the Cricut Joy is the Perfect Holiday Gift

I received my very first Cricut for Christmas 9 years ago and it’s been love ever since! Truly, I can’t think of many gifts since then that can top my Cricut. After all, y’all know how much I love my Cricut machines and how I use them for nearly EVERYTHING. In return, I’ve been able to turn around and use my Cricut to create an endless number of gifts for others. Don’t you just love that?!

This year, if you’re considering a Cricut gift for a crafty friend or family member, I highly recommend the Cricut Joy! It’s the perfect companion for creatives with full-size Cricut machines or even a great starter option for those new to the Cricut world.

The Cricut Joy is a more compact, mini version of a Cricut with most of the same features and functions of the larger machines, plus some pretty neat capabilities of its own. Because of the size, I always recommend this Cricut in particular for teachers and college students who might be limited on space, but want their creativity to shine!

Although the Cricut Joy is smaller than the Cricut Explore Air 2 or the Cricut Maker, one of the best features is that it can cut vinyl up to 20 feet long. Yep, I said 20 FEET! No more having to piece together smaller sheets of vinyl to create larger projects.

(I hope you’ve checked out my DIY Holiday Card Holder that uses a single 4-foot-long vinyl stencil!)

Even better than that though, is the Cricut Joy’s ability to cut vinyl without having to use a mat. Thanks to SmartVinyl, you can simply slide your sheet of vinyl into the machine and get to cutting. You may not think so, but this is a HUGE time saver!

Another huge time saver is the Cricut Joy Insert Cards and card templates found in Cricut Design Space. I love to make the prettiest little cards using the Cricut Joy Card Mat along with Cricut Joy Insert Cards. All it takes is a few moments and you have a complete handmade custom card to share!

Pro tip: I stock up on the Cricut Joy Insert Cards when I find them on sale, and I like to mix and match cards and inserts from different packs to create fun color combos.

On top of the fun projects mentioned above, here are a few more ideas for creating with the Cricut Joy:

  • Vinyl monograms
  • Iron-on t-shirt designs
  • Pantry labels
  • Vinyl decals
  • Infusible Ink coasters
  • Addressing envelopes
  • Pillow covers
