6 Healthy Instant Pot Recipes for Thanksgiving

With Thanksgiving around the corner, many people are already brainstorming on the perfect meal to make for their families. There is however no need to worry, especially if you have an instant pot. There are tonnes of healthy Thanksgiving recipes you can make with your instant pot, we will be outlining 6 of such recipes in this post. 

1. Instant Deviled Egg 

To make these deviled eggs for Thanksgiving, you need the following. 

Ingredients 

  • 2 tablespoons mayonnaise 
  • 6 large hard boiled eggs 
  • ⅛ teaspoon ground pepper 
  • 2 teaspoons yellow mustard 
  • 1 – 2 teaspoons dill pickle juice 

Instructions 

  • Hard boil the eggs in your Instant Pot. 
  • Cut the hard boil eggs in half (lengthwise) 
  • Pop-out the yolks, place them in a mixing bowl and mash the yolk until there are no large lumps. 
  • Add the pepper, pickle juice, mustard, and mayonnaise to the bowl and mash together. 
  • Put the yolk mixture in a food storage bag, squeeze out the air, and seal the bag. 
  • Gently squeeze and roll the bag around your fingers until the yolk is completely smooth. And move the yolk mixture to one side of the bag. 
  • Cut off the corner of the bag with the yolk mixture and gently squeeze out the yolk mixture in the hole of the egg whites. 
  • Serve cold. 

2. Instant Pot Air Fryer Sweet Potato Fries

Ingredients 

  • 2 sweet potatoes 
  • 1 tablespoon canola oil 
  • ¼ teaspoon rotisserie chicken rub

Instructions 

  • Peel the potatoes and cut them into fries 
  • Dry the potatoes in a paper towel 
  • Mix the potatoes with a pinch of rotisserie chicken rub and a tablespoon of oil. 
  • Spray the air fryer basket with oil and place the fries in it. 
  • Air fry the potatoes at 400F for 20 minutes. Flip them after 10 minutes. 
  • When the cooking ends, take out the potatoes and serve. 

3. Instant Pot Hummus

Ingredients 

For the hummus:

  • Zest of half lemon
  • ¾ cup reserved cooking liquid 
  • Drained and cooked garbanzo beans 
  • ¼ teaspoon cumin
  • ⅓ cup tahini
  • Juice of 1 whole lemon 
  • ¾ teaspoon salt
  • 1 garlic clove (roughly chopped) 
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • ¼ teaspoon pepper 

For the Beans:

  • 3 ½ cups of water
  • ½ pound dry garbanzo beans 
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • ½ teaspoon garlic powder or granulated garlic 

Instructions 

To cook the beans do the following:

  • Add water to the Instant Pot and add the dry beans, salt, and garlic powder. 
  • Lock the lid and cook on high pressure for 60 minutes 
  • When the cooking ends, naturally release pressure and open the pot. 
  • Drain the beans and reserve the cooking liquid for the hummus. 

For the hummus, do the following 

  • Add half cup of the warm cooking liquid, lemon zest, lemon juice, cooker beans, olive oil, cumin, pepper, salt, and tahini to a food processor and blend. 
  • Add more water to the paste in the food processor if necessary. 
  • Serve and enjoy.

4. Instant Pot Turkey Breast

Ingredients 

  • ¾ teaspoon paprika 
  • 7 lb bone-in skin-on turkey breast 
  • 2 cups chicken broth
  • ½ teaspoon ground black pepper 
  • 4 garlic cloves 
  • 1 medium onion (chopped) 
  • 2 teaspoon chopped poultry fresh herb mix Sage, thyme, and rosemary 
  • 2 celery stalks 
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 3 tablespoons olive oil 

Instructions 

  • Add the chicken broth to the Instant Pot, put the garlic, onions, and celery in it, and place the trivet in it. 
  • Mix the paprika, salt, oil, herb mix, and pepper in a bowl. 
  • Wash the turkey properly, remove the gravy pockets, and pat dry. 
  • Brush the turkey with the olive oil mixture and place it in the trivet with the breast facing up. 
  • Close the pot, seal the valve, press manual, and cook on high pressure for 35 minutes. 
  • When the cooking ends, release pressure naturally and open the lid. 
  • Remove the turkey from the pot and place it in a baking pan to crisp up the skin in the oven. 
  • Broil the turkey in the oven under 440°F and take out when the skin is crispy and golden. 

To make the gravy, do the following 

  • Drain the pan dripping in a sieve to sieve out the garlic and onions. 
  • Measure two cups of the liquid and pour it into the Instant Pot insert. 
  • Mix 2 tablespoons of cornstarch with ¼ cup of cold water and whisk together. 
  • Sauté the mixture until it thickens. 
  • Serve 

5. Instant Pot Mashed Potatoes

This mashed potatoes is a perfect side dish that will go well with your Thanksgiving turkey. 

Ingredients 

  • 3 cups of water 
  • 2 tablespoons whipped butter 
  • ¼ cup light sour cream
  • 2 pounds russet potatoes ( peeled and quartered) 
  • ⅓ cups low-fat 1%buttermilk 
  • Fresh black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon kosher salt 
  • Chopped parsley or chive 

Instructions 

  • Pour enough water into the Instant Pot and add the potatoes. 
  • Cook on high pressure for 10 minutes 
  • When the potatoes are well cooked, drain out the water but save ½ cup of the water. 
  • Put the potatoes, buttermilk, butter, sour cream, salt, black pepper, and water in a bowl and mash with a potato masher. 
  • If the potato is too dry, add the reserved water if the potatoes are too dry. 
  • Serve warm garnished with parsley or chives. 

6. Extra Crispy Instant Pot air fryer chicken wings 

These chicken wings can serve as the perfect appetizer for your Thanksgiving dinner. 

Ingredients 

  • Rotisserie chicken rub
  • 1 lb fresh or frozen chicken wings 
  • 1 cup of water 
  • Cooking spray 

Instructions 

  • Cut off the wing tops and cut them into two parts. 
  • Add one cup of water to the Instant Pot. Place the trivet in the pot and put the steamer basket on top of it. 
  • Put the wings in the steamer basket, close the pot and cook for 10 minutes if the wings are fresh, but if they are frozen, cook for 15 minutes. 
  • Naturally release pressure when the cooking ends, open the pot and remove the basket. 
  • Dry the chicken wings with paper towels, spray with cooking oil, and coat with rotisserie chicken rub. 
  • Spray the air fryer basket with oil and place the wings in the basket. 
  • Air fry the chicken wings at 400°F for 20 minutes. Flip the wings after 10 minutes.
