Bachelorette Weekend in Newport

Nope, not the type of bachelorette weekend you’re thinking, but nonetheless, just as fun! Complete with mimosas!

A while back, some of the local Newport Facebook and Instagram pages started sharing that the Bachelorette show was coming to film in Newport for season 15. Although I haven’t been a fan of the show since the first 2 or 3 seasons, it was exciting to have major production happening in our town. Along with sharing opportunities for extras, the local social media pages also shared the filming requests that were submitted to the city by the production company. Which of course I screen shotted as soon as I saw.

Possible Bachelorette spoilers ahead…

A producer from the show shared an Instagram post of Hannah on the Cliff Walk. Cliff Walk is a mostly paved trail behind some of the mansions and Salve Regina University, that weaves right along the coast. It’s beautiful walk that we did last summer, and is perfect for a warm day. I probably wouldn’t attempt it right now, because of the wind.

The guys from the show are reported to have been staying at Gurney’s Hotel. We’ve hung out at Gurney’s a handful of times, including the Marine Corps Ball in November, ice skating during the winter, and visiting the lighthouse for Christmas!

On Friday, the group date was filmed at Fort Adams, which is where our housing is! Our military housing is about a 5 minute walk from the fort itself, so while the group date was filming, I walked over there to see what I could see.

I had applied to attend the group date, but you had to RSVP 2 or 3 different times, and sadly,  I wasn’t quick enough to respond the last time. Probably for the better though, since it was a cold dreary day and extras had to stand outside for upwards of 5 hours. No thank you! I went to Ikea instead.

Anyway, the group date consisted of the guys playing a rugby match inside of the fort. I couldn’t see much from the outside, but every once in a while, they’d pull guys out to do those little interviews that end up sprinkled within the show.

As Caesar and I walked home, there were some drones flying. So be on the lookout for a charcoal-colored coat and handsome golden dog walking around the fort.

The Eisenhower House as also mentioned, when filming at the fort. It was Once the summer White House of President Dwight D. Eisenhower. I frequently walk Caesar over there, as the house is surrounded by big grassy fields. I’m also hoping to family photos on the steps once the weather warms up, since it’s a popular landmark right by our Newport home.

The final spot that I have any connection to, is the the location of a one on one date on Saturday. John and I had our date night at the White horse Tavern less than a month ago! The White Horse Tavern is the oldest tavern in the country, so it was a must-do for us!

Now, Sunday is when the mimosas come into play! Neighbors invited us over for a little brunch and mimosas. I had so much work to catch up on and considered not going, but when my computer started acting up, I figured stopping by for an hour or so wouldn’t hurt.

An hour turned into nearly 5, and we found ourselves going through bottle after bottle of Prosecco and ultimately ordering delivery pizza. We haven’t a social hangout with the neighbors like that since New Year’s Eve, so it was nice to sit around and bullshit.

Things will be so much more fun once it warms up just a tiny bit more! I’m looking forward to corn hole and beers on the lawn. The kids being able to play outside freely is one of the major aspects I love about living out here on the fort. Being able to have a great time with the neighbors is certainly another!

No photos to share, since we were having such a great time! Oops!

Hope your week is off to a fabulous start! Can you believe it’s April already?!
