St. Paddy’s Weekend 2019

Hellooo friends! How was everyone’s weekend?! John was gone, so I fully intended on laying low, but that’s basically the opposite of what happened! I realize it’s a little late for a weekend update, but life keeps getting in the way of blogging.

I keep wanting to say that Saturday was St. Patrick’s Day, but no. No it wasn’t. Newport just makes it seem like a big enough deal that Saturday felt like St. Patrick’s Day. Mother Nature cooperated to make it the perfect day!

I had the girls up early on Saturday morning, to go dance with the neighbors in the local parade. Our next door neighbor grew up here, so her family is still in town and owns several restaurants across town–one of them being The Lobster Bar. For the parade, the girls dressed up as lobsters and danced down the street for 2 miles. I watched and waited from the end of the parade route, to be able to snatch up my kids along with the neighbor kids and bring everyone back home.

The parade had a whole bunch of fire and police departments from all around Rhode Island. And possibly even Massachusetts. There were a few local marching bands, which took me back to my high school days. Plus, some local businesses. And of course my little lobstahs.

Once the neighbors got picked up from here, the girls and I head out from here to celebrate with some friends! I’ll admit, I was feeling pretty antisocial after being surrounded by people all morning, but I’m glad I went out. I hung out with some mamas from preschool and the girls got to play with friends. I finally mastered (kinda) flip cup. So lucky!

On Sunday we got crafty and started our little kitchen makeover! Y’all. I’m so excited. It has brightened the space SO much! The kitchens here are small and dark so adding just a few things to brighten it up has made such a difference! I’ve received a few comments about fixing up the kitchen right before a move, but the way I see it, it’s like practice for the next house. I have a few things to spray paint, and then I’ll be ready to share!
