Life Lately
A very happy hump day to you my friends! Things have been preeetty quiet here on the blog lately! We’ve been keeping pretty busy since arriving in Florida! We got to Miami about two weeks ago and have been soaking up the sunshine and family time!
We don’t report to Rhode Island until the end of July, and John is TDY in the meantime, so home is the perfect place to be. I can’t think of a day that has gone by that we haven’t spent at least an hour in the pool. The parentals have a fabulous pool in the back yard, which makes for easy child entertainment. Swimsuits, sunblock, and out we go!
I really loved the rash guards the girls wore to the beach in Hawaii, since they help protect their backs and shoulders from the sun. It was slim pickin’s on rash guards here in Miami though, so back to regular old bathing suits. Target did have an adorable selection of those!
Even though our swimsuits with rash guards are a bit faded and not so stretchy, we’ll be hanging on to them for the duration of the summer. Having the rash guards is so nice for some of the outdoor activities we’ve been doing.
Earlier this week, we went to the Miami Seaquarium. They have a summer savings pass, which gets you admission to three other local attractions all summer long. Tomorrow, we’ll be hitting up Lion Country Safari, a drive through park with animals like lions, giraffes, and zebras. I haven’t been there in probably 20 years, so I’m way pumped!
In one my recent posts, I mentioned how both of our rental properties were hitting the market soon! Earlier this week, as I was floating around the pool with a SOLO cup full of wine, I got a text from our property manager in Georgia that they had found the perfect tenants! Woo!
Our property in Kentucky went up first thing Monday morning. After dealing with the stress of painting and refinishing the floors and cleaning and photos ALL from long distance, I was thrilled to see how nicely the listing turned out! Our Kentucky property manager listed the house a bit higher than our agreed upon price, but hey! If she thinks she can get that amount, that’s fine with me!
Unlike our property in Georgia, we actually stand to make a profit with our Kentucky rental. Our mortgage in Georgia is a 15-year mortgage. As such the payments are a bit higher, and are just barely covered by the rental income. The bright side to that though, is that there are only about 7 years to go until it’s paid off!
And now since it’s bed time and I’ve been typing this post up all day, it’s probably time to say goodnight! I swore I was going to blog consistently during the summer, but with school out, it’s nearly impossible! Maybe one of these days I’ll escape from the house and distractions!
