Life Lately

Happy Monday, friends!

We are just chugging along and counting down until summer break! I am so ready for flexible bedtimes and late wake-ups! Not including today, the girls have 7 days of school left! Those darn snow days got us, or they would have been done already!

We spent the better part of the weekend here getting ready for our upcoming move. John got back from a TDY at Fort Leonard Wood on Saturday, so Sunday consisted of fixing stuff up around the house and a HUGE trip to the hardware store. I did a whole lotta purging while he was away. So much purging. I’ve never done a huge PCS (permanent change of station – military move) purge. And this was it! I’m still not even done. I’m finally parting with old clothes that had “sentimental” value, toys that clutter up the house, even dishes that don’t match.

We came pretty close to our max weight when we move to Kentucky from Hawaii. We’ve acquired some larger heavier items while here, so I’m hoping to balance it all out. The movers in Hawaii did use an excess amount of packing paper though, so that should also help this time around.

There’s a Fort Knox $1 Auction page on Facebook, where I listed a playset from the backyard. Almost instantly, people were bidding more than I expected on it! That’ll be a nice chunk of change coming in and chunk of weight going out!

Unfortunately, the movers were all booked up for the dates we requested (May 29-31), so we’ll be packing out the following week. Not a huge deal, since our days are very flexible. It just throws things off for getting the house rented. The plan was to move out as soon as the movers were done and spend the weekend managing and paying for rental things.

I’m very specific about numbers, so having our rental agree start on June 1, made my brain happy. Not the case anymore, but with the Army I guess you learn to adapt.

Currently on my mind is: teacher gifts. Juli’s last day of preschool will be Wednesday. Veronica’s teacher is leaving early this week, to have surgery. I’d love to be creative right now, but I’m thinking I’ll probably stick to gift cards.

I also want to make sure I don’t miss out all the extra teachers (gym, art, music). I was thinking some popcorn and a RedBox code, but RedBox makes buying and distributing the codes kinda complicated. We’ll see!

OH! And can we talk about the Royal Wedding for a sec?! I honestly wasn’t even planning on watching, but once I saw how beautifully everything was set up, I was addicted! Meghan was SO beautiful! And although I didn’t love her first dress, not my wedding, not my problem. I was completely enamored at seeing how in love she and Harry are.
