DIY Valentine’s Treat Craft
Thanks to Oriental Trading for teaming up with me and providing the materials in this post!
Hellooo, from Snow Day 7 here in the greater Fort Knox area! I wanted to pop in real quick with this FUN little craft that the girls and I made on a snow day for Valentine’s Day! Today is actually only the 5th snow day of the year, but it’s been a week since the girls have been to school.
Things are bright and dry today, so I’m hopeful for school tomorrow! We still have plenty of snow, but most roads have been cleared and there’s no additional snow in the forecast! YAY!
Later today, I plan to try making snow ice cream (prob not a great idea, since I’m trying to work on a lower carb diet). But in the meantime, I want to share our little Valentine’s craft that we worked on a few days ago!
The girls and I did this one together and had so much fun! There are literally hundreds thousands MILLIONS (billions?) of ways to create these little monsters and coming up with variations was the best part! I ordered all of my supplies from Oriental Trading (yay for not having to leave the house)! PLUS (!!!) you can order cardboard tubes from them, if you’re like me and terrible at remembering to save your paper rolls!
We used:
- Craft rolls
- Foam hearts
- Googly Eyes
- Feathers
- Glue
- Hot glue & Gun
- Candy
I started this little project by folding in all the ends of the tubes. I just used my thumb and pushed down on opposite sides of the tubes to that each end would close.
While I did that, the girls started putting together their little Valentine monster faces. Using the foam hearts and googly eyes they glued them together in all sorts of fun layers and combinations. Once I was done with the tubes, I started making some monsters of my own!
V discovered that when you put the points of two hearts together, you get a little bow! So cute!
To finish the project, we added feather “hair” with a dab of hot glue, then another dab of hot glue to stick the masterpiece to the tube! We’ll be filling these babies up with Hugs & Kisses (you can even get these from Oriental Trading) and sending them off to school!
