Maker’s Weekend
Happy Monday morning!
It’s eclipse day! Are people going absolutely crazy over the eclipse in your neck of the woods?! I saw that back home in Florida, they’re closing schools! Our schools here in Kentucky are actually extending the school day, to make sure that the kids are given a chance to view the eclipse! A local university even donated glasses for all of the kids!
John brought me home a pair of glasses last week, which I immediately tested out! SO COOL! So, I’ll be locking Juli in the underground bunker, and experiencing the event from home. Just kidding. She’ll probably be asleep on the couch or something.
Anyway.. This weekend was a great one! I stained the X-brace table that John recently built and we started (and almost finished) a set of cornhole boards! We just need to do a little bit of sanding and choose the designs that we want to paint on top!
John discovered Rogue Engineer shortly after receiving his miter saw, and we’ve been using his plans to build everything. He breaks everything down into super simple steps, and includes images as references. The X-brace table was our first major woodworking project, but with guidance, we tackled it and are now so much more confident in our abilities! And by we, I mostly mean John. I mostly supervise.
Since we’re on the topic of creating things, I just have to show off this little display that I set up last week! I’m just so obsessed with how the IKEA frames and the digital paper fit so perfectly together. They’re sitting on the photo ledge that I hung above my desk. Once I get that cleaned up, I’ll share more photos.
With one of my good friend’s visiting for the next week, I think the boards will be on hold for painting. They should be done the following weekend though! I can’t wait to start playing!
