This & That

This is going to be a short (or maybe very long) collection of bits and pieces of everything going on lately. Sort of like a life lately post- without that title.

We’ve had a house full of visitors for the last few weeks, but with summer break coming to an end, we’re riding solo again. Although, my mom/parents might come back one more time before the girls start school…in TWO weeks! Holy cow?! where did summer go?!

With John’s fraternity brother’s in town this last weekend, we did lots of bourbon touring. The taste of bourbon is starting to grow on me. I never thought that would happen!

I insisted that we go to the Jim Beam for a distillery tour, because I liked it SO much when my parents were here last. This most recent tour was good, but not as fun and interactive as the one we did with my parents. It was a little bit of a bummer that the tour guides don’t follow the exact same script.

From our first Jim Beam tour

We also did a bunch of restauranting with the boys in town. SO many great places. Thank you, Yelp! The only downside, is that most of these places are a good 45 minutes from our house. Driving home on a full belly is not the greatest.

With our foodie guide in town, we made sure to get Hot Brown’s over in Louisville. The name has completely turned me off since first hearing it, but I’m glad we went along with the suggestion. This thing was DELICIOUS! Hot cream and cheese with bacon on toasted bread? YAS, please!

I finally got the girls registered in CYSS this week! I never bothered to do it in Hawaii, since hourly care was so scarce. Not only is hourly care super easy to use here (and you can book it online!) but they also have Friday night and Saturday morning care that isn’t impossible to get into.

I got Juli onto a list for part-time part day preschool in the fall as well. I can’t decide if I want to put her in MWF or TT, but I’m leaving towards MWF, so that I get stuff done. I’m thinking one day for shopping, one day for cleaning up around the house, and one day for blogging. We’ll see when the time comes. I’m having a hard time imagining being home completely alone! Crazy, huh?

Two weeks ago, John finally started using the miter saw that I got him for Father’s Day. His first project was building me a sofa table! Other than staining and the decorative Xs on the bottom of the table, it’s done! I love how it came out, and can’t wait to work on future projects!

– My new desk from Wayfair is being delivered tomorrow! I paid extra for them to rush it, so that I can finally get my little office set up! Once that happens, I’ll be back to Cricutting all the things! I’ve missed working on my machine! And making my own planner stickers.. Holy smokes, Etsy is expensive! And it ticks me off that so many shops print their shipping labels on the “ship by date,” but then still don’t mail for another 3 days. #shady

That’s about it for now. I still have some major cleaning to do to recover from the weekend. Holy laundry, Batman!
