Coming Along

Life is funny. As I was standing at school this morning, waiting for the bell to ring, I overheard two moms talking. They’re also PCSing soon, and are in the process of house hunting. I feel their pain, as John and I have spent hours lately on realtor.com and Zillow.

“I hope no one takes our house.”

Mama, I feel you! I actually have four tabs currently open on my browser, with “my” houses.

This time, house hunting has been tough, but it’s coming along. Originally, we were opposed to buying, because we simply don’t want to feel tied down to the area. We’re only looking at a two year assignment, and would rather not have to manage two rental properties.

However, after countless hours of searching for a rental, there just doesn’t seem to be many options that would fit our family. Either there are not enough bedrooms, not enough space, or no dogs allowed in the available rentals. We’ve been looking in one particular area, due to the quality of their school.

We didn’t even think we’d qualify for a VA loan again, since much of our entitlement is tied up by our home in Georgia. After chatting with a guy at Veteran’s United, we’ve learned that we have just enough entitlement left for a home in Kentucky. We figure that with such a bleak rental market in the Ft Knox area, we should have an easy time renting the house out at the end of John’s assignment.

Back here in Hawaii, things are also coming along. We spend much of the weekend packing up suitcases with everything we don’t want the packers to take. I’ve discovered space bags, and they are magical! I’m slightly worried about the weight of our bags, but when flying on orders with Delta, you get up to 70 lbs. We should be fine!

We also did a little shopping over the weekend. The girls all needed sneakers, since they’ve been living in sandals for the last 3 and a half years. Thank you, Target! Carter’s had a great buy one, get two free sale, and with three kids, it was perfect!

With everything going on, I hadn’t had a chance to print any new planner stickers. I finally made a set over the weekend, that I’ll share eventually. If feels like when my planner is in order, my life can be in order. And I’ve been losing my mind lately! Hopefully this week is better. I think having three planners might also help with that.

And now, I’m off to some housing brief. Gotta figure out how to leave this house spotless!
