Weekend Recap

It feels like it’s been a while since I’ve done a weekend recap. It’s also been a while since we had an interesting weekend. My dad and aunt brought my grandma into town, so we did our best to spend some time out with them.

We kicked off Veteran’s Day weekend with a Girl Scout parade through the town surrounding Schofield. Man, it was HOT! I was actually surprised by how many people came out to watch the parade!

That afternoon, we went down to Waikiki, to the hotel where my family is staying. I wanted to spend Friday evening down there, because the Hilton does fireworks on Friday nights, and their balcony was in the perfect location to watch the fireworks. If you didn’t catch them on my Insta stories, it might be too late. I had some fun using Boomerang in the app. So convenient!

For Saturday night, we dropped the girls off with some good friends, before once again heading down to the Honolulu area. We got together with some friends to celebrate a 30th birthday. At a mere 29, I am the baby of the group!

Our evening began at the Leather Apron, a bar in a financial building, followed by dinner at Fête, in Chinatown. I was SO impressed by the service and food at Fête! The menu had a wide variety of selections. My favorites ended up being the artichoke heart spread and the Charleston grits. I’m on a mission to now recreate the grits. Cheesy, salty, and creamy!

We ended up meeting up again with family on Sunday, first at Waimea Valley, to walk up to the waterfall, and then in Hale’iwa at Lui Bueno’s for lunch. My parents have come to Hawaii a handful of times and ALWAYS have to go to Lui Bueno’s. This time around, my dad wanted to take everyone else. It’s some seriously tasty Mexcian food and drinks!

Although it’s Monday again, the weekend isn’t entirely over. The girls return to school today, but John still has the day off. Yay! This week is going to be quite busy for me, so I’m hoping that having John help out with some of the household responsibilities early on in the week will keep me on track for the rest of the week!
