4 Years of Ball Gowns

I ordered my ball gown last night for the Military Police Birthday Ball in September! Eeek! I am so so excited for it to arrive!

For the last four years, I’ve ordered my gown from Lightinthebox.com. I was introduced to this site many years back as a pretty new military spouse by some of my fellow FRG leaders.

I’ve loved ordering through Lightinthebox, because although these dresses are a steal, they are of a much high quality than anything I’d find at the mall. All of the dresses are handmade (many with hand sewn details and beading) and can be made in a variety of colors and custom measurements.

This year I scrolled through all 16 pages that they have listed under “military ball,” and the price point of my top choices varied from $59.99 to $129.99.

After much debate, I decided to go with blue. There were like five different blues to choose from, but my choice was royal. My fear was that I’d blend into John’s dress jacket, but due to the bling and the royal vs navy blue on the top, I think it’ll be fine.

And yes, bling. Not too much of it, but it’s there. And a big open back. Because I like to push the envelope. But in all honesty, it’s pretty classy, the girls will be covered, as will the lady bits.

If I had decent photos of myself from prior years, I’d share those, but instead, you get the stock photos from my last three dresses. I had the first dress made in purple, the second dress in yellow, and the last dress as shown. what to wear to military ballI’ve been impressed so far, and can’t wait to see how this year’s dress turns out!
