This post was sponsored by the MetLife TRICARE Dental Program as part of an Ambassador Program for Influence Central.

I don’t know about everyone else, but I absolutely LOVE being a military spouse! Even with some of the negative aspects, such as deployment separations, the benefits make this lifestyle so worth it. Getting to explore the country (and sometimes even the globe!), meeting new friends from all corners of the map, and lets not forget the actual benefits, housing allowance and some pretty awesome insurance, to mention a few.

When John and I first got married, I had such a hard understanding some of said benefit. Seriously, I get to go to the dentist for free? Well, yeah, kinda! When you’re enrolled in the MetLife TRICARE Dental Program, your sponsor pays a monthly premium, and then your two yearly cleanings at the dentist are covered (plus any applicable taxes).

Registering for the MetLife TRICARE Dental Program (TDP) is pretty easy too! Your sponsor can either do it online, at MetLife TRICARE Dental website, or by calling their toll-free customer service number at 1-855-638-8371. If the initial payment is received by the 20th of the month, coverage will be good to go by the 1st of the next month. Any registrations happening after the 20th, will have to wait until the second month.

As we dive head first into 2016 (can you believe it’s February already?!), I’ve gotten the girls and I set up with dentist appointments in the next few weeks. The TDP website made it super easy to find a provider in our area!

One important change to pay attention to this year is the minor change in premium rates, as of yesterday. The rates vary for sponsors and single or family enrollments and depend on the sponsor’s military status. Check the chart below to see what you can expect to pay for these premiums. Even if you’re not a TDP beneficiary, be sure to check your insurance plan for any changes in premium rates this year!
