Where Were You?

Fourteen years ago today, our country was shaken to its core. It’s a day that I will never forget. I can still remember exactly where I was and what I was doing as I learned of all the lives lost that day.

The TV came on during second period. It was an advance Spanish class. The bell rang and the class scattered to third period. It was freshman biology for me.

At that point, every TV in the school must have been tuned in. We had no idea what was going on. We saw a plane hit a building; clearly, it was some sort of tragic accident. And then we watch the second plane hit, followed by two more.

After the towers fell, there was a solemness that could be felt campus-wide. The bells continued to ring as usual, but there wasn’t any teaching going on. Instead, we focused our attention on the tragedies unfolding.
