Weekend Recap

Kinda late, but if you didn’t blog about the weekend, did it actually happen? No. The answer is no, so here’s my recap. A day late.

John and I (mostly John) spent a couple of hours on Saturday putting together a stand for some of his gear. Currently, it’s sitting in my dining room keeping all the Army junk off of the floor, but when John finally has an office again, he’ll be leaving it there. It was actually a relatively easy project. The hardest part was making sure that everything was straight and even.

In just a couple of hours, we put together an IBA cross. All it took was two planks of wood and some screws.

Sunday’s excitement came from the 50th State Fair. I remember hearing advetisments for the 50th State Fair last year, so I was expecting it to be the 51st this year, but no. It’s the 50th State Fair because Hawaii is the 50th state..

I was kinda disappointed by the fair, but I guess I shouldn’t have expected much. Luckily we attended on $1 day, because I would have been pissed if we would have paid $5 each to enter. We managed to walk the entire fair in about 20 minutes. And that includes the girls riding a couple of the kiddie rides. There were about two rows of rides with a row of food in the middle plus another row of games on the side. Not the greatest, but it was a decent enough way to spend some time. The girls played a bunch of the games, so we ended up with a few prizes.

Veronica won a giant squid from playing games at the fair

While we were there, we also hit up the swap meet, across the parking lot, to pick up some kukui leis for our friends that are coming into town this week. I love the swap meet, because we got three leis for $10. At Walmart, the same leis will cost you around $10 each!

I’ve been preparing and cleaning up for our friends to get here on Wednesday. I’m excited for them to arrive, because we always do the fun touristy stuff while we have visitors. John is doing inventories all week so he couldn’t take time off, which means I’m the tour guide! We’ll be doing another luau along with spending some time on the North Shore. I can’t wait!
