Water Babies

For a few years now, the base that we live on has been working on updating it’s electrical system. Every so often, they need to shut off the power to the entire base to be able to work on the system. This weekend was one of those times. Lucky for us, we live in Hawaii, and there are plenty of outdoor activities to partake in on the weekend.

We started Saturday off by going out to breakfast. By the time we woke up, the power was already out. Sure, we could have just had cereal like we normally do, but why risk spoiling our food with a quick reach into the door for milk?! 😉

Early afternoon we headed to a friend’s house. Caesar tagged along and got to hang out with a couple other dogs. We did a little drinking and hanging out, followed by some beach time. For a while now, I’ve been wanting to remember to take our old baby bathtub, so that Juli can sit in it. She loves to splash during bath time, but she hates the cold ocean water.

This photo just screams "Merica!"

With just a few inches of water in the tub, we stuck Juli inside. The water was a little chilly at first, but it quickly warmed up. She would reach outside of the tub to grab handfuls of sand. Half of the sand ended up in her mouth (and in her diaper today), and the other half covered the bottom of the tub.

The older two have become really great swimmers since our trip to Florida, so they were constantly jumping in and out of the waves.

Yesterday, V and Adri were begging to go to the pool on post, so we decided to go for a little bit. They’ve been asking to go for forever and since we really weren’t doing anything, we made the trip up the road to go. The pool on Schofield is free for active duty and $1 for dependents, so a couple of bucks for a few hours of fun seemed worth it.

At the pool, the older girls were constantly jumping from the edge into the big pool. I was so proud of V for being completely fearless without any floaties on. Adri had no fear in the kiddie pool, but that one is only 18 inches deep. Ju hated the big pool, but was a huge fan of the murky pee-temperature kiddie pool. The kiddie pool water has a noticeable color difference from the adult pool, so I made sure to wash her really well when we got home. Twice.

The lazy weekend was just what we needed as we now gear up for John’s Change of Command. He starts inventories today and I’ll be busy planning all things reception related, as well as making some notes and jotting down FRG ideas.

Hope everyone had a great weekend. Have a fantastic week!
