Juliana – 8 Months

This kid. She has a personality, and she loves to show it. I probably say this every month, but Juli has grown so much in the last month. I’m noticing so many little things that she does and habits that she’s picked up.

Just last week we had to remove the bassinet portion of Juli’s pack and play, because we noticed her starting to grab on to and peek over the sides. I’m pretty sad panda about it, but we have yet to have to lower her crib mattress, so I’m holding on to that. I recently found her sitting up in her crib after nap time though, so I can only assume that she’ll be pulling up rather soon.

I have zero clue as to how she sits herself up, but so far Ju has done it twice. She’s great about staying on her butt when I set her down and can usually transition to crawling pretty easily. The army crawl has been mastered, so it now takes a hardly anytime for Juli to scoot across the kitchen in pursuit of a Cheerio on the floor.

Cheerios have become the breakfast and snack food of choice and they’re usually given at least once a day. Baby Led Weaning is going superbly. Juli will feed herself a tray of Cheerios or puffs and sit contently in her high chair while I take care of chores in the kitchen. I’ve tried to incorporate a BLW meal for breakfast and dinner, but some days I’m lazy and would rather forgo the bath.

Still no teeth and I can’t feel anything down there, so we’ve been slightly limited to the really soft foods. But no teeth make for a much easier breastfeeding experience for mama. Nursings haven’t really cut back and I’d say we’re probably at four a day, unless it’s a cranky day, then I just keep a boob in her mouth to keep her quiet.

Most recently, nap time hasn’t been that great which had led to long days. Sometimes the long days lead to sleeping through the night, but that’s really only happened four or five times. The last few nights have been major crank fests too. No fun for mommy or baby.

Juli has most recently started grabbing on tight to my arm or shoulder when I go to put her down. She recognizes her crib and starts panicking trying to grab any sliver of me that she can. This also happens occasionally when I try handing her to John. What can I say, she’s a total mama’s girl.

Juli is currently in size 6-9 mo clothing, although I can squeeze her into a 3-6 mo outfit if I really want to force her into staying tiny. Some days she feels super light, but others it feels like I’m walking around with a baby hippo in my arms. We’ll find out next month at her 9 month well baby check up how big she actually is.
