When the heat hits and the sun is shining bright, nothing says “vacation mode” like a cold drink in your hand. A Frozen Caipirinha is the perfect way to cool off on a warm afternoon. It is Brazil’s national cocktail, but blended into a frosty, slushy treat that feels made for poolside lounging, backyard barbecues, and summer gatherings with friends.

This icy blend of lime and cachaça is bright, citrusy, and incredibly refreshing. One sip and you will feel like you have been whisked away to a beachside café, even if you are just steps from your own kitchen.

What is a Caipirinha?

A caipirinha is Brazil’s signature cocktail, traditionally made with muddled lime, sugar, and cachaça over ice. Cachaça is a sugarcane-based spirit, similar to rum but with a fresh, slightly grassy flavor. It has been enjoyed in Brazil for centuries, often served in a simple glass over plenty of ice.

This frozen version takes the same flavors and blends them with ice and limeade for a smoother, slushier sip. It is a twist on tradition that works beautifully in hot climates or for those moments when you want your drink extra cold.

Why You’ll Love This Frozen Caipirinha

  • Quick and Simple – Five minutes from start to sip.
  • Tropical Flavor – Fresh lime and smooth cachaça give it that “on vacation” feel.
  • Perfect for Entertaining – Makes enough for four and is easy to scale up for a crowd.
  • Refreshing on Hot Days – Frosty texture and bright flavor make it perfect for cooling down.

Ingredients You’ll Need

You only need a few simple ingredients to make a Frozen Caipirinha:

  • Limeade – The base that adds tartness and sweetness.
  • Cachaça – The star ingredient. You will usually find it near the rum section of your liquor store.
  • Ice – For the thick, slushy texture.
  • Lime slices and mint sprigs – For a fresh garnish that makes your drink look as good as it tastes.

Tip: No limeade? Try lemonade, or mix equal parts lime juice and sugar, plus four parts water to make your own.

How to Make It

  1. Add the limeade, cachaça, and ice to your blender.
  2. Blend until the mixture is smooth and thick.
  3. Pour into glasses and garnish with fresh lime and mint.
  4. Relax and enjoy.

Serving Ideas for the Perfect Poolside Drink

  • Chill Your Glasses – Pop them in the freezer for a few minutes before serving to help keep the drink icy longer.
  • Make a Party Batch – Double or triple the recipe and blend in batches. Keep the extra in a chilled pitcher for easy refills.
  • Add a Tropical Touch – Serve with a pineapple wedge, colorful straw, or even a little paper umbrella for a fun vacation vibe.

A caipirinha is meant to be bold. Cachaça is strong, so pace yourself and enjoy it alongside snacks or light bites. Fresh fruit, chips with guacamole, or shrimp ceviche make great pairings.
