From Kansas, With Love

Hello, old friends! It’s been quite some time! We’ve settled into Kansas and I’ve finally found the time and desire to hop on the computer.

We moved into our on-post home exactly 3 weeks ago (hop on over to my Instagram stories for a house tour!) and got our household goods delivery the very next day. We spent this past Labor Day Weekend finally getting the last bits of everything unpacked. Really, all we have left to do is get shelves and photos on the walls. And maybe organize my hoard of craft supplies.

Life in Kansas has been fantastic from the get go! While in the hotel, the girls made plenty of little friends at the pool and I spent my afternoons soaking up the sun and sipping on White Claw. The girls started school while we were still in the hotel and made instant friends there as well. A few of which live on our street!

I met a handful of neighbors on our first day at home who were all so welcoming. Since then, we’ve done brunch, cookouts, and afternoon park hangouts. So far, this community is exactly what I had hoped for when we made the decision to live on post again.

With all three girls now in school full-time, I’m trying to establish a daily schedule that works. Yesterday was really the first day that wasn’t dedicated to unpacking or putting away. I’m hoping to be able to balance home and blog along with possibly toss in some volunteer time eventually. I’ve got bunches of seasonal content planned, it’s just a matter of getting it typed out and photographed.

Speaking of photographing, this house has the BEST natural light. Well, maybe not the best, but it sure does knock the lighting in our last home (a townhouse) out of the water! Also, the sunflowers in the area are in full bloom, and I’m looking forward to hopefully getting some photos of those over the weekend!

I sure did dread moving to Kansas, but it’s been wonderful so far. You’ll hear people say that Fort Riley is the Army’s hidden gem and I truly believe that now. There’s also, “Kansas…it’s not that bad,” which I find entirely accurate!

That’s probably enough rambling for now! Thanks for sticking with me! I can’t wait to share more of our adventures in Kansas with you! 🙂
