The Longest Summer Ever

Y’all. Wednesday came TOO soon! I wasn’t ready! At all.

After 97 days of summer break, the girls finally went back to school yesterday. I was so ready to send them back! BUT because we spent TWO HOURS at gymnastics the night before, which along with not receiving our Hello Fresh delivery, threw the whole evening off, we were SO unprepared for school in the morning. Oops!

Worry not, because the bus was about half an hour late anyway. 🤦🏼‍♀️

I zoomed after the bus, to make sure the girls made it ok (first-time bus riders, and mama was anxious). Then it was off to gymnastics for Juli. We are settling in quite nicely to our new normal!

Ju will start preschool on Friday, then mama will finally have a chance to breathe. She gets to wear a little uniform, which I am too excited for! She’ll pretty much have a full day of school, so unlike last year, I won’t have to basically turn around to pick her up as soon as I get home from dropping her off.

The house has been neglected majorly this summer, but I think I’m going to take Friday off and go fall asleep face-down in the sand.

SO–what were we up to this summer?! A whole lot, actually. Let’s work our way back from now to then.

Labor Day Weekend

This past weekend, we took a ferry over to Block Island. There was minimal planning that went into this trip, so we basically walked off the boat and wandered around the island in search of something to do. We ate, shopped, and ended up at the beach. We didn’t rent any type of transportation, which with the kiddos, I highly recommend. If we return to Block Island, I’m thinking it’ll just be John and I, and we’ll rent a moped.

We also used Labor Day weekend to take a trip to Best Buy (about 45 minutes away) to buy a new TV. Ours was damaged in the move and John needed 55″ to watch Notre Dame football.

PCS Damage Claim

Along with the TV, we had to claim a few other damages from our move. Just about everything that the packers wrapped and boxed arrived in perfect condition. However, the bigger pieces of furniture were manhandled by the guys loading the truck. We submitted our claim and are now waiting to hear back.

Moving In

It actually took us quite a bit of time to get fully settled into this new house. The house is much smaller than we’re used to, so we had a difficult time finding where to put everything away. Not having a basement or garage complicated things slightly.

We also had to wait for our non-temp storage to come get picked up, which took up some storage space around the house. On top of that, we tried to hold on to our damaged household goods, in case proof was needed for our claim. Eventually, we just got rid of most of it, as replacements had been ordered and paid for anyway.

Scentsy

I totally hate selling, but I decided to join Scentsy. I spend a ton on wax and warmers anyway, so it only made sense. Now I can take advantage of deals, plus get the inside scoop on new products and scents. I created a Facebook group, to avoid ever having to send unsolicited messages. If you’re into Scentsy, please join my Scentsy VIP Group! There are so many amazing Fall scents, and I can’t wait to see what’s released for Christmas!

The Neighborhood

This place has been the most perfect spot for allowing the girls to run free all summer! I’m not a stickler about screen time, but it was minimal over the summer, thanks to the ability to send the girls out with their friends. There is a perfect little alley behind us for scooters and biking, plus tons of kids!

We’re a bit removed from civilization, which actually isn’t that far, but because you’re navigating backroads and trying not to run over cyclists, it can take a while to get anywhere. The summer traffic didn’t help, but luckily it’s died down now.

The Move

Driving from South Florida to Rhode Island was long one, but we managed! We stopped at my best friend’s house in North Carolina, where we picked up a trailer to tow our second car. That slowed us down quite a bit, but we were still able to make the trip according to our timeline. It’s so nice when everything goes according to plan!

parked.
The End

We’ll continue to explore the area while the weather is nice. I’m excited for Fall and so not prepared for winter! Before we know it, it’ll be time to move again! Crazy how quickly the time passes!
