This & That
Y’all. Summer break + PCSing has completely thrown me off my routine. We’ve been at my parents’ house for a little over three weeks now, and while it’s so nice to be here, I can’t wait to get into my own house again!
I will admit, this is probably the best place to spend our summer break. My parents help out SO much with the girls and if we ever run out of things to do, it’s out to the pool. The girls have literally been in the pool every single day since we arrived in Miami. Even last night, where we had a busy day, they hopped in the pool after dinner for a little while. Thanks Mom & Dad!
Before we got to Miami, I swore I was going to go hangout with all my college friends and their babies and stuff. But man, it’s so much easier to be antisocial. I have the hardest time leaving the house with the girls and driving down here gives me major anxiety.
Yesterday, with the help of a good friend, we made the trip out to Wynwood with the girls. The Wynwood area is full of great food and wall murals. It wasn’t something that was around while I was living in Miami, so I figured it would be a fun place to checkout with the girls.
Wrong. They complained about the heat nearly the entire time. Still, it was interesting to walk around. No complaints about the food though!
As a family we’ve also ventured out to the local farmer’s market, zoo, and aquarium with the help of grandma and grandpa. The parentals have been troopers with also taking trips to the park.
While I’m hanging out in Miami, I’m still anxiously awaiting some news on our rental property in Kentucky. We assumed that we’d be able to rent it out pretty quickly, but it seems like the local market has slowed down a bit. BLAH!
In reality the house has only been available for two weeks, but our Georgia house always has a tenant secured within the week. Hopefully we’ll end up with a great family within these last few major weeks of PCS season. Cross your fingers for us!
And in these last few weeks of PCS season, we’ll finally be making our way up to Rhode Island. Not only am I looking forward to getting into my own house, but just being in Rhode Island. Two more weeks to go until we’re no longer homeless and living out of suitcases!
After the debacle we faced when packing out of Kentucky, the moving company has assured us that our household goods will be ready for delivery the day following our arrival. We should have keys to the new place within an hour of checking into Rhode Island. I can’t wait to get setup and meet everyone in our little community.
It stinks that we’ll be moving AGAIN next summer, but such is military life. I can only hope that the next move is a smooth transition and we end up in a great area for a few years.
That’s probably enough rambling for now! But, one more thing before I sign off. I hosted an Usborne book party with Ashley last night. If you’re interested in checking out some of the books, you can take a look HERE. I really love their activity books and have a few in my shopping cart for the road trip from Miami to Newport, RI.
