Back to School
The girls went back to school last week!
Public school started on Thursday, which I thought was strange, but whatever! Juli started on post, which has a different schedule, so Monday was her first day. Since she goes MWF, Friday was my first day home alone (with my parents here). I wasn’t sure what to do with myself most of the time.
Today, all three girls are gone again, and I’ll start adjusting to our new normal. I’m thinking I might dedicate some time to trying to learn Lightroom. I finally got it yesterday, and am just slightly lost.
Years ago, I started on PicMonkey. Eventually, I started using the paid plan, since the free version was kind of limiting. I’ve gotten to the point where I have my exact set of steps in PicMonkey and am able to crank out images in no time! Even with the paid version, there are limits to what you can do.
So I started editing in Instagram. I know, it sounds crazy, but I feel like there’s so much more control there! You can adjust the angels in the images beyond just rotating, which is a feature that I love using, since I’m kinda crazy about perfectly vertical and horizontal lines. For whatever reason, the brightness and highlights in IG are more Alex-friendly.
Which is why I finally went the Lightroom route. Having to switch to airplane mode and then being left with a low resolution photo isn’t ideal. I’m seeing that there seems to be a steep learning curve with Lr though!
Here are the shots I took of the girls last week on their first days. Two were done in Lightroom and one of them is a Picmonkey photo. Can you tell? It’s kinda obvious, but let me know!
Also, feel free to toss all of your Lightroom tips and tricks at me! I need them!
Have a wonderful week! Come back Wednesday and check out what I picked up at Ikea last week! (:
