But That’s None of My Business
For the first time since wandering the club scene dress as a slutty cop, I am excited for Halloween! Back in college, Halloween was always fun! Miami had a number of block parties where all the drunkies would get together to party half-naked.
As a mom, Halloween hasn’t been my favorite. Spend a mortgage payment on candy, only to eat half of it before Halloween. Plus, having to get costumes for the kiddos. It’s been a good while since I’ve dressed up for Halloween.
That all changes this year!
As I was scrolling through Pinterest a few weeks back, I came across this fabulous costume idea! The pin was one of those annoying ones that doesn’t lead anywhere, but it seemed easy enough to recreate. With as popular as memes have been lately (and my pettiness), I knew this was the costume for me! #TeaLizard
Because green isn’t a color readily found in my closet, I had to go out and get a green top. Easier said than done in Hawaii. So, I took to Amazon. And surprise, surprise, many companies don’t ship here. After a bit of scrolling, I finally found a top that wanted a tropical vacation. It’s a little darker than I would have liked, but that’s the price of paradise.
I went to Walmart for a sheet of green felt and a mini poster board. Using a rotary cutter, I cut triangles out of the sheet of felt. I did 3 wider shorter triangles, and 4 thinner longer ones. The wider ones are about 4″ tall and the thin ones are around 5″ tall. Use the adjustable sticky strips from this post, to stick them to the shirt.
I then used my Cricut, to cut out the text large enough to fit on the board. You could easily just print it on a sheet of card stock. Impact is the meme font that you’re looking for!
To pull then entire look together, I grabbed the mug used in this post. Really, you could use any mug, but I wanted to be as close to the meme as possible, so I chose a clear one. Don’t forget your tea bag!
While at Walmart, I also grabbed a mini chalkboard to write various insulting phrases on. I’ll be wearing this costume tonight at the trunk or treat for John’s battalion. I was thinking maybe something like, “Your PT score doesn’t need another Reese’s cup.” Haha! Thoughts?
I’d love some suggestions on what to include on my chalk board. If my kids don’t manage to kill my phone battery, I’ll be sure to add the highlights to my Insta story!
