The Best Beach Day Ever
Considering I grew up in Miami, I think I know a thing or two about beach days. I mean, in college, I’d spend hours between class on South Beach. I’ve had some pretty awesome beach days (and nights) in my life, but I think I can safely say that our beach day yesterday was the best to date!
A few weeks back, our friends went and spent a beach day surrounded by turtles. I can’t remember why we weren’t able to make it that day, but I was determined to go to that same beach, and swim with the turtles.
While avoiding packing for the field yesterday, we headed out to the famous turtle beach, in hopes of finding bunches of them.
You guys! They were there! And they stayed there! And swam around you. And bit John’s leg. It was so amazing! I only with that we had taken snorkel gear, to really be able to watch them in their natural habitat.
Since the water was crystal clear, you could see where 7 or 8 or so of them were almost the entire time. It’s against the law to go after them, but they would just swim right up to you, like it was nothing. And they got SO close!
For a while, I was using my underwater camera. Unsatisfied with the photos, I decided to switch to my DSLR and shoot from above the water. SO amazing, to see them pop their little heads out of the water for air.
