Newfound Freedom
You guys! I finally did it! For the first time ever, I hired a babysitter! It was scary and nerve wracking, but I did it, and I’m so glad I did.
Date nights have been few and far between for John and I. Normally, they happen when we’re back home visiting family, or have family visiting us. There aren’t many people that I feel comfortable enough with to have watch the girls.
With the ball coming up next month, finding a sitter was a priority. Last year, a friend from work watched the girls. Honestly though, I feel guilty having anyone that isn’t family watch them for free. Sure, they love time with the girls, but once the girls are in bed, there isn’t much for them to sit around our house and do.
So, I took to care.com in search of a sitter. I probably spent three nights just creeping before I finally messaged anyone. Luckily, after a phone conversation and in-person interview, the first girl I messaged turned out to be a perfect fit! Over the weekend we did a trial run with her and the girls for a couple of hours.
While the girls and our sitter got to know each other, John and I ventured off to the North Shore for some dinner. We got Mexican food at Lui Bueno’s, a restaurant that I’ve been dying to try since I saw their commercials. I’m thrilled that we chose to go there because the food was phenomenal! The tortillas were nice and soft, the meat was perfectly tender, and the drinks packed a punch.
When we arrived back at home, the girls were about ready for bed. They spent the evening playing outside and building forts with the sitter. It seemed like everyone had a great time, which was a huge relief to me!
All it took was getting over the nervousness of hiring someone, but I am now looking forward to monthly date nights!
