Weekend Reunions
Our vacation started out with a bit of a rough patch, but once we finally landed it was all smooth sailing! The girls were great on the plane even after a seven hour flight. I think we lucked out with having TVs in the headrests to keep them occupied.
Upon landing in Houston, our first stop was to Dunkin Donuts! Dunks is one of the culinary gems that we miss out on in Hawaii. I got my usual: vanilla sprinkled doughnuts. SO GOOD! Can you believe that in Georgia, they used to tell us that the vanilla sprinkled doughnuts were a seasonal item?! What?! It’s the iconic DD doughnut!
Along with Dunks, we’ve had a few other missed favorites. Panera anyone?! That creamy tomato soup in a bread bowl was delicious! John, of all things, said he was craving TGI Fridays. Really..? We haven’t made a trip yet, but I’m sure we will sometime during the trip.
Aside from catching up in the tastebud department, we also caught up with friends! One evening was spent at a wine bar with one of John’s friend from high school. My best friend also drove up for the weekend with her boyfriend and she visited us at my mother in law’s house. Some friends of ours from Georgia and Missouri also drove into town to spend some time with us and the girls.
We went to Downtown Disney over the weekend with above mentioned friends and spent a couple of hours walking and hanging out. At one point we were considering Magic Kingdom, but holy ticket prices, Batman! After the amount of money that we spent to fly here, plus rental car and kenneling Caesar, and all that, $105 per person was pretty steep! I even checked prices at the ticket office on post and they were more expensive. I’m not quite sure how that happens!
At their age, I think the free Downtown Disney was good enough for the girls. Within 20 minutes, V was complaining about being tired anyway. We were able to build with legos, splash in the fountains, and build potato heads, all without having to wait in a single line. We also had lunch at Rainforst Cafe, which the girls enjoyed. They loved every time it started to storm and Adri got this super excited look on her face whenever the gorillas would make noise.
In other ultra exciting news, I ordered my [clink id=”5″ target=”_blank”]Cricut Explore Air[/clink]* over the weekend! I can’t wait to receive it! I’ve always loved my original Cricut, so I was thrilled to find out that Cricut finally made a machine that I could import my own images into. I decided to stick with Cricut versus going the Silhouette, because I already have so many cartridges that are compatible with this new Cricut machine. I sort of wish I had ordered sooner, so that I could make a t-shirt for V’s birthday today but there’s always next year.
