PCS Progress

Hellooo! We are right in the thick of PCSing, and things have been hellish! We’re finally in Florida with family though, so there is a light at the end of this tunnel!

We made it to John’s mom’s house in central Florida Sunday evening, and we’ll be making the trip down to Miami tomorrow! Before getting here though, we had a few pit stops at close friend’s houses along the way! It’s so nice to have friends scattered across the country!

Before all of this fun, we had a disastrous experience with the movers. The packers that were scheduled to show up on Monday never made it. I have no idea why. The moving company has no idea why. Just somehow, no one was available to come on our scheduled packing day. It was the same story for Tuesday.

At that point, we were close to losing our shit. Primarily, because the moving company had no answers. HOW?!

Finally, Tuesday evening, they gave us a call and let us know to expect the packers to show up Wednesday morning. Wednesday comes around and at about 10:30am, we had a fragile elderly couple roll up into our driveway. The outlook was grim, but they actually made it happen. In one day, they packed up half of the house.

Thursday morning we wake up to a knock on the door, and guess what?! It wasn’t the couple from the day before. It was the moving truck that showed up a day early.

Y’all. It would not be a Fernandez PCS without some ridiculousness happening.

The packers hustled while the crew that came with the truck loaded up the larger furniture pieces. I’m not confident that everything was inventoried and I’m sure half of our shit will be missing on the other end, but oh well. We were already delayed in getting out of the house, so at that point, we just wanted to be able to hurry up and leave.

We’ll be renting out the house now, so moving out late pushed back a few projects that we are having done before new tenants move in. The biggest project being getting the walls painted with some better paint. We waited until the very end to get some improvements done, which is kind of a bummer, since we don’t get to enjoy them.

Like the nicely stacked pavers in the photo above that I did last weekend. They look so nice!

The Kentucky house will be hitting the market SOON! We’re hoping that it rents out pretty quickly, as rentals can be hard to find in the area.

Along on drive from Kentucky to Florida, we also passed by the house we own in Georgia. That one will ALSO be up for rent soon! Eek! Not going to lie, it’s a little nerve wracking to have two houses on the market at once.
