The Kentucky Derby is just around the corner and I am so ready for it! The drinks, the food, the fashion- all of it!

Had you asked me about 6 months ago if I was interested in going, I would have responded with a big ole “nope!” But with our time at Fort Knox being cut short, it looks like this year will be our only opportunity, so off to the races we go!

As soon as John bought our tickets, I knew I had to find something to wear. We’ll be attending two days of races, so I wanted something affordable. You know, considering we just spent a small fortune on tickets. Being the hermit that I am, I took to Amazon.

Kentucky Oaks

Oaks is race day for the female horses. It happens on the Friday before the Derby, and I’ve been told it’s the event for the locals. Traditionally, pink is the color of the day, so that’s what we’re going with. I wanted a big obnoxious fascinator, and the internet did not disappoint. The one pictured is similar to mine, since mine is no longer available.

Kentucky Derby

I decided to tone things down for Derby day. I imagine I might not being feeling so hot after knocking back mint juleps all day the day before. Plus, I really wasn’t sure what to wear. While browsing, I came across a hat and a dress that coordinated and that was that!

I’m still trying to decide what kind of bag to take, but I’m leaning towards some sort of clutch, since large bags aren’t allowed. Really, it’ll probably just be my phone and a few cards that I need those days.

I’m linking up with a bunch of other local ladies below!
